Divine Deliverance - Holy Spirit
Week Five, Day Two
April 2, 2019
Have you ever been camping? Imagine boating out to a private island, crystal blue water. You have all the supplies you need, including the makings for a great fire, campfire music, and barbecue. As the sun sets and the fireflies emerge, the guitar begins strumming and sweet peace and relaxation settle where the weeks stress used to be. Now, mid-song, another group stops on your island and begins tracking trash through your campsite and singing off-key.
When you make the proclamation that you want Jesus to be in your life, the sweet and wise Holy Spirit moves in, and you are no longer left to your own devices. When you choose to continue seeking advice and comfort from other non-reputable avenues, the enemy is also free to enter in and set up camp.
Why are you seeking counsel from unwise places when you have a breadth of wisdom ready for the taking. In John 14:26, Jesus said, "But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all the things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
You have the ability to tap into His Word and grow in wisdom. The Holy Spirit is here to bring you comfort and walk with you through trials.
You can be a mental landlord to endless worldly advice, or evict the information that doesn't belong. You decide.
Jesus, thank you for your Holy Spirit. Our comforter, our guide, our counselor. We pray over this week as we set aside time to be in your Word. We pray that in this time you will give us wisdom and clarity, and help us to discern your guidance from worldly advice. We don't want insight that is not God-breathed. We don't want anything in our minds that is not from you. We love you. Amen.
