What are you Doing Here - New Mercy Every Day

Week Three, Day Five

March 22, 2019

Mercy is defined as choosing compassion over punishment. God is the supreme authority, and has the power to turn us to pillars of salt if He so chooses. Instead, He sent His only son Jesus to provide constant compassion for our broken condition. He came to bring us mercy.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says, "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

Every day. This means that every single day our Lord chooses compassion over punishment.

When He was sacrificed as the ultimate lamb, our sins we're washed away, and we can live daily by this mercy.

Let's say this plainly. Our God came to this Earth. He was born as a human, walked as a man who experienced pain, frustration, sadness, grief, temptation. He experienced all of these things and understands our human tendencies more than we do. He is the inventor of life, illustrator of love. He knew we needed His love, and He came. He knew we needed his mercy, and He died.

What will you do with the new mercy He provides everyday? You decide.

Merciful God, you find us broken but you don't leave us that way. Your mercy is our shelter, and your compassion never-ending. Thank you for your consistent love. Thank you for your steadfast patience. Amen.
